Applications

How to Apply to an Open-Enrollment Charter School with OneApp

Important: An application does not guarantee that your child is accepted or enrolled at a school. If your child’s application is accepted or a lottery seat is offered, you will be notified via email. You will then need to complete the enrollment process (see Enrollments section below).

Step 1: Click on the student’s profile.

Once you’ve saved your student’s profile, you’ll be able to see them on the OneApp dashboard. Clicking on a student will show you two buttons: one for starting an application and one for starting an enrollment.

Step 2: Click the “Apply to an Open Enrollment Charter School” button.

On this page, you’ll be able to select an open-enrollment charter organization and a school to submit an application to.

Step 3: Fill out the form and submit.

When you’ve filled out all the required information, click the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page to submit your application to the selected school.

Application Statuses

Once you’ve successfully submitted an application, you can track its status. From the Students dashboard, click the child whose application(s) you’d like to view. These are the application statuses you may see:

Pending: The application has been submitted, but is still awaiting further action from the school.

  • For “first-come, first-served” application windows, the status will remain Pending until the school either accepts or denies the application.
  • If the application window is a lottery, the status will remain Pending until the lottery is conducted. If your child is not selected in the lottery, their status will remain Pending and they will be placed on a waitlist. You will receive updates via email regarding the lottery results and your child’s lottery number.
  • For a waitlist application, the status will remain Pending until the application is either accepted or denied based on seat availability.

Seat Offered: The school has accepted the application and your child has been offered a seat, either through the regular application process or via a lottery selection.

Seat Declined: The school has denied your application, or you were offered a seat and chose to decline it.

Withdrawn: You withdrew your child’s application after it was submitted.

Enrollments

How to Enroll in an Open-Enrollment Charter School with OneApp

Step 1: Accept the seat in OneApp.

After accepting the seat, you can begin the enrollment process for that student.

Step 2:  Select the relevant student profile and click the “Start a New Enrollment” button.

The enrollment for the accepted seat will appear here, initially marked as Incomplete. A text link will prompt you to select “Continue Enrollment” to begin the process.

Step 3: Click “Continue Enrollment” and fill out the enrollment form.

Follow the instructions to provide the required information to complete the enrollment. Your progress will automatically save as you go. If needed, you may leave the enrollment and return later.

Step 4: Submit the enrollment.

You’ve now completed the enrollment process! Once you’ve submitted the enrollment, it will appear on the student’s dashboard under the Enrollments section. From there, you can download the enrollment document and view any messages related to the enrollment.
